THE BALD ARCHYS 2010 Irreverent, irrepressible, hilarious, satirical The exhibition the man-in-the-street loves (and the arts snobs hate) ? and the only exhibition in the world judged by a sulphur-crested cockatoo named Maude!

A practical, on-farm study day where the potential or new alpaca owner will learn all the basics of alpaca management. By the end of the day each participant will have handled, haltered and led an alpaca; administered injections; cut alpaca toenails; and learnt about farm layout, alpaca breeding and much more.... Places on each course are limited due to the practical nature of the training given.

"Isolation" is a new exhibition of lustre fired ceramics by John Kuczwal. Lustre firing is high stakes ceramics that involves some of the riskiest techniques in the business that can literally return pure gold in the form of incredible metallic glazes when everything goes to plan. Commonly called "Arabian" or "Persian" lustre (its origins can be traced to the Islamic world of the first Millenium), reduced pigment lustre as a medium carries no guarantee of success in its making. Despite our technical advances in kiln technology, raw materials analysis and the use of microprocessors to monitor and measure, pigment lustre continues to defy commercial production. John began to solo fire wood-fired lustre and to explore the technique of reduced pigment lustre in 1990 after over 30 years spent working in the legal sector.

An exhibition of recent works by local artist Carlos Barrios to be opened by renowned Australian artist John Olsen. "One finds in Barrios? work elements and themes reminiscent of artists such as Picasso and Gauguin, whose art often dealt with the myriad of human experiences and the essential unity of man with nature, including the animal kingdom."

"Bowral and Beyond" - exhibiting art works by local artists Joan Brown, Miel Kroon and Veronica Mackie; sculpture by Ross Fairley and jewellery by Virginia Ransom. Opening cocktail party on Wednesday 28 July at 6.30 for 7pm - $25 pp - Exhibition to be opened by Ben Quilty (RSVP to Jennifer Grey 0402 048 525). Free viewing daily 10am to 4pm from Thursday 29 July to Tuesday 3 August. Proceeds of the opening plus 20% of sold art will go to the Southern Highlands Lantern Club, the voluntary fundraising arm of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children.

Find out what happens at an audition, learn a song and dance routine from the show and how to make your audition count on the day. This is a free workshop and an important aspect of theatre. The Mt Eymard Art Prize is open to all over 55 years of age and includes works in all mediums including collage. Those selected by the judge will be hung in this exhibition including prize winners. Join us for the final event of our 2010 sledding season - Mushdown! This event from 3pm on 28th August 2010 with races starting from 5pm. See the junior, ladies, peewee, 1, 2, 4 and 6 dog classes compete in their last run of the year. Dog sledding is a great spectator sport and visitors and newcomers are always welcome. Experience the energy and enthusiasm of the mushers and their dogs. The event is free for visitors, and competitors must be entered by 3pm. Membership of SHCNSW Inc is not required.  Come along to this event to see what dog sledding is all about and give it a go with your own dog on the day!

We hear their plans and enjoy a cheese tasting. Hear from Steve who bottled fruit the old fashioned way and taste his product.
