Acrylic Painting for Beginners So, you think you can't paint?

Join this friendly class to learn how to design, cut and print lino. This class suits absolute beginners and those with little printmaking experience. Make single colour prints or reduction prints.

Biannual quilt exhibition showcasing more than 100 quilts and wall hangings as well as craft creations and a challenge mini quilt section with the theme of freshly picked. There will be a selection of hand made crafts for sale and at least 6 retail stores for that special purchase. This show will be supporting Challenge Southern Highlands an organisation that provides employment at Welby Garden Centre for adults with disabilities from our local community.

With over 60 stalls there is a wide range of quality products and gifts. Everything from plants, collectibles, produce, children's toys and clothing as well as a quality selection of handcrafted goods, jewellery and items for the mind, body and spirit. Market hours are 8am to 3pm.

Start with morning tea at the Exeter General Store then on to a berry farm for fruit picking. Visit their farm shop and see the extensive range of jams and vinegars made on the farm. On for lunch at a special restaurant in a rural setting for a leisurely lunch. Includes 2 courses and a glass of wine. After lunch we visit an olive farm. 
Time: 10am - 3.30pm. Price: $110 includes all meals, entries, tastings.

World renowned puppeteer, Richard Bradshaw, will be performing at the Playhouse for a one off show at 3pm.  Admission for adults and children is $10 per person.

The 2012 Optus Flix in the Stix tour is coming to Bowral in February. Under the stars at the Bong Bong Racecourse, Flix combines the screening of its collection of award winning short films with music from the highly acclaimed Australian singer songwriter, James Reyne performing live. Also featuring special guest and much celebrated Australian bush poet, Murray Hartin. Saturday 25th February will be an unforgettable evening of classical piano and laughter, as internationally acclaimed concert pianist/comedian, David Scheel, brings his hilarious concert, "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player", to Mittagong Playhouse. Expect to hear a piece by Andrew Lloyd Webber played with one hand, and another by Bach in the other, at the same time; a memorable "translation" of the lyrics of "Waltzing Matilda", a well-known folk tune played in the styles of Mozart, Rachmaninoff and an i-Pod (!), plus lots of beautiful music played by an acknowledged master. David's concert has sold out across America (where he's regarded as the successor to the great Victor Borge), in London's West End, and last year was the stand-out hit of the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

This new, combined event brings together farmers, artisan food producers and up market designers and traders at the farmers’ market, while dealers and private sellers converge around the old wooden kiosk with a mixture of trash and treasure at the Highland’s largest communal garage sale! Perfect for foodies and time poor treasure hunters!
The markets are held rain, hail or shine and there’s ample on-site parking, great coffee, egg and bacon rolls and other treats to eat for a morning made in heaven!

Come and meet our local food producers. Taste their wares. Find out how you can "buy local, buy fresh" - good for your health and good for the farmers too. Jill and Nick have extensive local knowledge which enhances your experience.

On our walking tour in Bowral we visit several specialty food shops, meet the owners and taste their products. You will want to buy some to take home so bring a bag. Longer tour includes coffee with our local coffee roasters.

1 day contemporary portrait painting workshop, working in either oils or acrylics. In this workshop you will explore ways to paint portraits (or a self portrait) that tells a story, evoking your subjects unique qualities through your individual painting style. You will develop new ways of seeing and interpreting the face enabling you to capture the distinctive personality of your subject. You will broaden your drawing skills, explore contemporary portraiture, experience intuitive painting techniques, and look at new ways of working with paint. Come on a tour of the famous Mittagong Mushroom Tunnel. Hear Noel explain about the exotic mushrooms growing in this unused railway tunnel. See the colours - you will be fascinated. Take a punnet home to enjoy later. These tours only run 3 times this year - 28 Feb, 8 May & 20 Nov 2012. Price: $35. Time: 10am and 11.30am. Tour duration 1 hr. Bus leaves from the Visitors Information Centre. NB The tunnel is 600 metres long. Temperature in the tunnel is a content 16o. Floors can be slippery - non slip shoes must be worn.

'Il Furore' (The Fury) is a storm of passionate works in which voice and violins rage impetuously, capturing Vivaldi's intense fascination with the turbulence of the sea.
