The Vineyard Howards Lane Vineyard spreads below the northern slopes of the Gibbergunyah bushland, adjoining Bowral and Mittagong. Views from the farm range over the undulating hills of the Southern Highlands and at dusk yellow-tailed wallabies emerge from the bush to graze close to the Cellar Door. Corrie vineyard, one of the first established in the region, ten years ago, is planted to Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon producing at most just 8,000 bottles a year. The secret of this region’s growing reputation as a source of premium wines is in the slow ripening of the fruit, with harvesting as late as April or May. The farm is 800m at its peak ensuring ‘cool climate’ growing conditions. Crop levels are reduced, there is minimal irrigation and the resulting small berries ensure a high ratio of skin to juice thus enhancing the flavours of the wine. Newly developed McCourt Vineyard is well on the way to doubling Howards Lane production within a few years, introducing Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc to our range of wines. Our vines are pruned by hand and the grapes are selectively hand harvested allowing for only the finest of the crop to be used for wine-making. Local peasants, that is friends and family, ensure that harvest is a happy, albeit exhausting, time. There are panoramic views of the beautiful Gibbergunyah Forest from the deck and the property is ideally situated for a picnic after a walk through the Reserve.

The Wines 2005 Unwooded Chardonnay Newly released! Wine notes coming soon. 2003 Chardonnay Delicate citrus aromas of fresh lemon flowers and nectarines. Lingering creamy vanilla texture on the palate with a hint of butterscotch. 2004 Light Red Bursting with crushed strawberries and raspberries with a soft natural acidity giving the wine good structure. This lovely elegant balance is heightened by a touch of residual sugar. A great summer wine drunk lightly chilled. 2004 Merlot Currently out of stock 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Medium bodied, purple-red in colour. The bouquet is rich and ripe with sweet blackberry fruit and vanilla oak. Mouth filling blackcurrant, chocolate and vanilla flavours on the palate, balanced by soft tannins. 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon - awarded bronze medal at Southern Highlands wine show A medium bodied, deep red wine. Ripe blackberry and cassis flavours with delicate spice and vanilla undertones from the French oak barrel maturation. The firm but soft tannins ensure a full and lingering palate.
